Rega RB330 Tonearm
Precision Rega tonearm with redesigned bearing housing, improved bias assembly and low capacitance cable with Neutrik plugs
The Rega RB330 is the tonearm that quietly explains why so many Rega turntables punch above their price. It is built to do the unglamorous job properly: hold the cartridge rigidly, move with almost no friction, and avoid adding its own resonances to the signal. When that is done right, you get tighter timing, cleaner transients, more stable imaging, and better tracking on real world records.
Rega designed the RB330 using modern 3D CAD and CAM, then reworked the bearing housing and the arm tube with what they describe as an intelligent redistribution of mass. The goal is fewer resonance hot spots in the arm structure and higher stability at the bearings. Rega also highlight why bearing accuracy matters: near the centre of an LP a 10 kHz signal can be extremely small, and any measurable free play in the bearings risks turning groove information into random arm movement instead of music.
Key features that matter
Redesigned bearing housing and improved bearing assemblies
The RB330 features a redesigned, stiffer vertical bearing housing and improved precision horizontal and vertical bearings. The aim is extreme stability with almost friction free movement, so the stylus can track cleanly and retrieve more low level information from the groove.
Arm tube with intelligent mass distribution
Rega’s latest low mass aluminium arm tube is designed to reduce potential resonance points by redistributing mass along the structure. A cleaner mechanical path helps preserve timing, dynamics and image focus.
New bias assembly and improved spring housing
The RB330 includes a new bias assembly and an improved spring housing with easier to read numbers. This makes setup more consistent, especially when changing cartridges or refining tracking force.
Low capacitance phono cable with Neutrik plugs
A Rega made low capacitance phono cable is supplied, terminated with high quality Neutrik plugs. This helps preserve the cartridge signal and keeps connections reliable over the long term.
Redesigned 100 g mild steel balance weight
Rega specify a redesigned 100 g mild steel balance weight to support stable setup and consistent tracking.
Compatibility and fitting notes
- Mounting system: Rega three point mounting
- Direct replacement: Will directly replace other Rega tonearms that use the three point mount without modification
- Other turntables: For non Rega decks or older Rega single point mounts, use the supplied template before drilling
- Critical geometry: Spindle centre to arm hole centre must be 222 mm
- Arm hole size: Arm mounting pillar requires 25 mm diameter hole
- Clearance check: Confirm clearance under the plinth and lid clearance in all directions before drilling
- Front clearance check: Ensure at least 250 mm clearance from arm hole centre to the inside front of the turntable
Setup notes for best tracking
- Start point: With cartridge fitted and stylus guard removed, set tracking force dial and bias adjustment to 0
- Balance: Adjust the balance weight until the stylus “floats” about 1 mm above the record
- Tracking force: Rotate the tracking force dial to your cartridge’s recommended tracking force. If unsure, use the upper end of the cartridge’s range
- Bias setting: Set the bias slider to roughly the same figure as the tracking force. Rega note this is not critical, and 1.5 to 2.0 will normally suit most moving magnet cartridges
