Description
Rega Planar 6 Turntable
Foam core HPL plinth, RB330 tonearm and Neo PSU included as standard
The Rega Planar 6 is where the Rega philosophy starts getting properly serious. Built around technology developed for the higher RP8 and RP10 designs, the Planar 6 uses an ultra-light Tancast 8 foam core plinth skinned in High Pressure Laminate for high rigidity without unnecessary mass. The result is a turntable that sounds more stable, more precise, and more effortlessly musical, because you hear more of the groove and less of the deck.
A major part of what makes the Planar 6 such an easy recommendation is that it includes the Neo PSU as standard, hand matched to the individual 24 V motor for optimum anti vibration control. You get electronic speed change, fine speed adjustment, and a quieter, more stable drive system as a complete package, not as an upgrade you have to chase later.
Why the Planar 6 design works
Rega avoid the heavy plinth approach because mass stores energy, and stored energy becomes resonance. The Planar 6 keeps mass low and rigidity high with a foam core structure and an exceptionally rigid HPL skin, then reinforces the critical bearing and tonearm area with Rega double brace technology and integral aluminium tonearm and hub pillars. The goal is simple, keep the cartridge stable so it can read the groove cleanly.
Engineering highlights that matter in real listening
Ultra-light Tancast 8 foam core plinth with HPL skin
A low mass core with a high rigidity skin reduces energy storage and resonance. In real listening this improves timing, separation and the calmness of the background.
Neo PSU included and motor matched
The Neo PSU provides electronic speed selection for 33⅓ and 45 RPM plus fine speed adjustment. Rega match each 24 V motor to its Neo PSU to achieve optimum anti vibration control and low noise performance.
Reference EBLT belt, custom pulley and machined aluminium sub platter
The Planar 6 uses a single piece machined aluminium sub platter, a custom drive pulley and the Reference EBLT drive belt fitted as standard. Belt consistency matters because it affects speed stability and pitch.
RB330 tonearm control
The RB330 tonearm is designed using modern CAD and CAM methods and refined to reduce resonance and increase stability. High precision bearings provide near friction free movement for confident tracking and information retrieval.
Cartridge options
Rega list the Planar 6 as available with factory fitted cartridge options. Factory fitting means correct alignment from day one. Choose the cartridge type that suits your phono stage and system voicing.
- Nd5 moving magnet, factory fitted option for MM simplicity and a strong balance of detail and drive
- Nd7 moving magnet, factory fitted option for higher resolution and a more advanced fine line nude stylus profile
- Ania Pro moving coil, factory fitted option for MC level texture and detail, requires an MC phono stage
