The Rega Planar 1 is the “just get on with playing records” turntable that still behaves like a serious hi fi component. It is designed as a true plug and play deck: pre set bias on the RB110 tonearm, a factory fitted Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge, and a setup process that is genuinely fast without feeling flimsy. It has earned multiple awards in its class because it nails the fundamentals: low noise drive, stable speed, and a clean, lively presentation that makes vinyl addictive again.

Rega have refined every key part that actually affects sound. You get a bespoke 24 V low noise synchronous motor with a new motor PCB and aluminium pulley for better speed stability, the EBLT advanced drive belt as standard, a 23 mm higher mass phenolic resin platter for improved flywheel effect, and a performance brass main bearing designed to improve fit and reduce stress while minimising energy transfer. Add Rega’s latest foot assembly for better isolation and stability, plus a motor cover tray with integrated cooling, and you have an entry level deck built for long term ownership.

The RB110 is built around Rega designed bespoke ultra low friction bearings (patent pending) and is designed to remove setup stress for new vinyl owners and perfectionists alike. Bias is automatic so there is no anti skate adjustment required, there is an integrated arm clip, and the ergonomically designed headshell improves usability and robustness.

Planar 1 ships with the Rega Carbon cartridge factory fitted, so you can be spinning records immediately. Carbon is deliberately tolerant and easy to live with: wide tracking pressure range, a punchy balanced sound, and a detachable user replaceable stylus for simple long term ownership. Rega specify a conical stylus profile, carbon cantilever, and 2.5 mV output at 1 kHz.

Speed change and everyday use

• Speeds: 33⅓ and 45 RPM via manual belt change on the stepped pulley
• Power: On off switch located on the underside of the plinth
