The Rega Planar 1 Plus takes everything that makes the Planar 1 such an easy recommendation and adds the one feature most modern systems actually need: a high quality moving magnet phono stage built in. That means you can connect it directly to any standard line input on an amplifier, powered speakers, or an all in one system and get proper vinyl sound without buying a separate phono preamp.
This is a true plug and play deck that still behaves like a serious hi fi component. Rega keep setup simple with the RB110 tonearm’s pre set bias, a factory fitted Carbon moving magnet cartridge, and a drive system designed for low noise and stable speed. You also get Rega’s key engineering upgrades: a 24 V low noise synchronous motor with a new motor PCB and aluminium pulley, the advanced EBLT belt as standard, a high mass phenolic platter for flywheel effect, and a precision brass main bearing designed to improve fit and reduce stress while minimising energy transfer.
Built in phono stage, what it actually does
A cartridge produces a tiny signal that normally requires a dedicated phono stage. The Planar 1 Plus includes a built in moving magnet phono preamp designed to amplify that signal to a suitable line level for any normal input. This makes the Planar 1 Plus ideal for modern amplifiers and powered speakers that do not have a phono input.

Tonearm and cartridge
RB110 tonearm
The RB110 uses Rega designed ultra low friction bearings and a pre set bias system to remove setup stress and keep performance consistent. The stiffer redesigned headshell improves usability and rigidity, and the 111 g plug and play counterweight makes initial setup fast and repeatable.

Carbon is designed to be easy to live with while delivering far more performance than most entry level cartridges. It is tolerant of real world records, tracks securely, and uses a user replaceable stylus for simple long term ownership.
Connection and setup notes
- Connect to a line input: AUX, CD, Tuner, Line In
- Do not connect to a phono input: the Planar 1 Plus already amplifies the cartridge signal
- Speed change: manual belt change between 33⅓ and 45 steps on the pulley, easiest by lifting the platter
- Placement: use a stable, level surface and avoid placing the turntable on the same surface as speakers
