Description

Nagaoka MP-200 MP Stereo Cartridge

The MP-200 is a serious step up in Nagaoka's MP range, combining a superfine elliptical diamond with a high-strength boron cantilever and a 4mV output that remains easy to match with a conventional MM phono stage.

This is a cartridge upgrade where setup matters. Correct overhang, alignment, tracking force and phono-stage loading are all part of getting the result the cartridge is capable of delivering.

Cartridge Design

Its Moving Permalloy generator keeps moving mass low while the boron cantilever provides a stiffer path between groove and generator than the aluminium-cantilever models lower in the range.

System Matching and Setup

Use the manufacturer's recommended tracking-force range and a standard 47kΩ phono input where specified. Tonearm effective mass, headshell weight and available counterweight range should also be checked before installation.

The Audio Experts Take

The MP-200 is where the range becomes especially interesting for better turntables. It keeps standard MM-style loading while adding the boron cantilever and more refined stylus assembly.
