Description
Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G Dolby Atmos-Enabled Speakers (Pair)
The Monitor Audio Silver AMS 7G adds dedicated height-channel sound to a home theatre with a pair of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, combining an angled, sealed cabinet, C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter and RST II mid-bass driver in a design that integrates neatly with Silver 7G systems.
These passive two-way modules have a deliberately focused role: reproducing the height information in immersive soundtracks. They can sit on top of suitable front or rear speakers and direct sound upwards for reflection from the ceiling, or be installed on the wall as separate height speakers. Their cabinet profile and grille styling are specifically matched to the Silver 300 7G floorstanding speaker.
Silver AMS 7G is supplied as a pair. A compatible AV receiver or processor and amplification with correctly assigned height channels are required; simply connecting these modules to ordinary surround outputs will not produce the intended Dolby Atmos height effects.
Dolby Atmos-Enabled Height Sound
Upward-firing effects without cutting into the ceiling
In an upward-firing installation, the Silver AMS 7G aims sound towards the ceiling so that reflected effects appear to come from above the listening position. This can be a practical option where installing in-ceiling speakers is difficult or undesirable.
The result depends on the room. A relatively flat, reflective ceiling and sensible speaker-to-seat geometry make the reflected approach more predictable. Very high, sloped, heavily treated or irregular ceilings can weaken the illusion. Where the room permits, dedicated overhead speakers may offer more direct and consistent height localisation.
Two Practical Placement Options
On a speaker or mounted as a height channel
The shaped enclosure is designed to sit neatly on Silver 300 7G floorstanding speakers. The modules may also be placed on suitably stable front or rear speakers, provided the top surface and cable route allow secure positioning.
Integrated keyhole mounting points allow a separate wall-mounted height installation. Position and orientation should follow the system's speaker layout, rather than treating the modules as general-purpose rear surrounds. Check wall structure and fixings carefully, and allow for each speaker's 4.0kg weight.
C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter and RST II Mid-Bass
Matching technology for the Silver 7G soundstage
Each module uses one 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter with an optimised waveguide and one 134mm C-CAM RST II mid-bass driver. The waveguide manages high-frequency dispersion, while the rigid patterned mid-bass cone is designed to control unwanted flexing as it moves.
Using related driver technology throughout the Silver 7G range helps the height effects sit comfortably alongside the front, centre and surround channels. The important matching decision is still speaker position and AV receiver configuration: a well-positioned height pair is more useful than additional channels placed where the room cannot support them.
Sealed Cabinet and Sensible Bass Management
A compact speaker with a specific job to do
The sealed enclosure avoids a reflex port and is straightforward to accommodate on top of suitable speakers. Its published in-room frequency response is 76Hz–35kHz at -6dB. These modules are intended for height effects, not deep bass reproduction, so an AV receiver should normally handle bass management and direct the lowest frequencies to the subwoofer.
Monitor Audio specifies 87dB sensitivity, 8-ohm nominal impedance and 30–60W recommended amplifier power. Receiver selection should consider the overall channel layout, listening distance and simultaneous power demands rather than matching one wattage number in isolation.
Planning a Two- or Four-Module Height System
Match the number of modules to the processing channels
One pair can form a two-channel height layer in a suitable Atmos system. Two pairs can be used for front and rear height positions when the AV receiver or processor supports four height channels. The extra pair will only be useful if the electronics, placement and room allow it to be configured correctly.
Before installation, confirm cable routing, speaker-top clearance or wall fixings, and the receiver's height-speaker assignment options. Ceiling construction and listening-position geometry should be considered early if the reflected approach is planned.

Important Notes
- Sold as a pair. Front, surround or floorstanding speakers shown in some installation images are not included.
- These are passive speakers. A suitable AV receiver or amplifier with configured height channels is required.
- Upward-firing Atmos performance depends on ceiling reflectivity, shape, height and speaker position.
- Wall-mounting requires fixings appropriate for the structure and a suitable height-speaker position.
- Contact The Audio Experts to confirm current finish availability, speaker-top fit and Atmos system layout.
The Audio Experts Take
The Silver AMS 7G is a practical way to add height effects to a Silver 7G theatre without building speakers into the ceiling. It is particularly tidy on the Silver 300 7G, where the size, slope and finish are intended to work together.
We would decide on the installation method before choosing the number of modules. If the ceiling is flat and reasonably reflective, the upward-firing option can preserve a clean room design. In a room with a high, sloped or heavily treated ceiling, wall-mounted height channels or dedicated overhead speakers may be the stronger solution. The AV receiver's supported height layout and the listening positions should guide that choice, and we can help plan the speaker locations and setup.
