The Q Meta Series has the KEF's most advanced Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT)1, a ground-breaking invention that significantly improves the precision and clarity of the most recent 12th generation Uni-Q driver array.
Each of the many pathways in MAT's incredibly complicated maze-like structure effectively absorbs a particular frequency. By combining the channels, the tweeter's rear absorbs 99% of the undesired sound, creating an acoustic black hole. By doing this, the associated distortion is removed, resulting in a more natural and clean acoustic performance. A revision of the Uni-Q driver array aims to optimize the performance gains that MAT provides. Based on its depth, the conical waveguide that connects the tweeter dome to the metamaterial absorber was created especially for the driver. The tweeter gap damper has been redesigned with two rings of porous material placed strategically to efficiently calm resonances and defects, resulting in a significant improvement in clarity and detail.
