KEF BQ Three-Way Uni-Q Outdoor Bollard Speakers

A three-way outdoor bollard that combines KEF Uni-Q coverage with an integrated low-frequency driver for a full-range landscape speaker from one position.

BQ9 and BQ11 are the most complete single-location loudspeakers in the new KEF outdoor range. Each combines a Uni-Q mid/high section with a dedicated bass driver inside a tall bollard format, reducing the need to separate satellite and subwoofer positions in parts of the garden where a single architectural element is preferable.

The two sizes target different scales of installation. BQ9 uses a 6.5-inch Uni-Q section with an 8-inch bass driver and 130-degree nominal coverage. BQ11 moves to an 8-inch Uni-Q section and 12-inch bass driver, with higher output and deeper extension.

Full-Range Outdoor Coverage

One bollard handles midrange, treble and dedicated bass.

BQ9 reaches 35Hz-20kHz at the published +/-6dB response and 109dB maximum SPL. BQ11 extends to 30Hz-20kHz and 112dB. The integrated low-frequency section gives these models a different system role from the BH full-range bollards, particularly where separate subwoofer positions are undesirable.

System and Landscape Planning

The amplifier, placement and mounting method should be chosen together.

Both models are 4-ohm passive speakers with published ground-stake and hardscape dimensions. BQ9 is rated for 240W recommended amplifier power and BQ11 for 400W. Outdoor cabling, drainage, service access and the number of amplifier channels should be settled before installation.
