Description
KEF BLb Outdoor Bollard Subwoofers
A passive outdoor bollard subwoofer designed to add proper low-frequency weight to distributed landscape audio without relying on indoor-style cabinets.
The BLb range is built for outdoor systems where satellites or bollard speakers need dedicated bass support. Both models use a cylindrical landscape-friendly enclosure, 360-degree coverage and published ground-stake and hardscape dimensions for permanent installation planning.
BL8b is the compact option with an 8-inch driver, while BL12b moves to a 12-inch driver, higher recommended amplifier power, greater maximum output and a larger nominal coverage area.
Bass That Belongs in the System
Outdoor bass needs placement, filtering and amplification planned as one job.
BL8b extends to 27Hz at the published +/-6dB point and is rated to 109dB maximum SPL. BL12b extends to 24Hz and reaches 115dB maximum SPL. Both are passive, so the final result depends on suitable DSP, crossover settings and amplifier power.
Landscape Installation
The enclosure and mounting dimensions matter before the garden is finished.
Each model has separate dimensions for the cabinet, hardscape mount and ground-stake installation. The IPX5 rating and -25°C to 70°C operating range support permanent outdoor use, while cable entry, drainage and access should still be planned as part of the landscape design.

Important Notes
- These are passive subwoofers and require external amplification and DSP/crossover configuration.
- Plan placement, cable route, drainage and service access before ground works are completed.
- The price list specifies KEF Network DSP Amplifiers as the required amplifier family.
The Audio Experts Take
BL8b is suited to distributed outdoor systems where bass support needs to stay visually restrained. BL12b is the more appropriate choice when the zone is larger, playback levels are higher or the system needs more genuine low-frequency headroom.
The important buying decision is the system around the subwoofer. We would confirm the satellite count, amplifier channels, DSP filtering and cable runs before selecting the final quantity and location.
