The BHQ family brings KEF's point-source Uni-Q approach into outdoor installations where even coverage matters more than creating a narrow sweet spot. Both versions are passive and are intended to be planned as part of a properly amplified outdoor system.

BH6Q favours broader 130-degree coverage from a smaller 6.5-inch format, while BH8Q trades some spread for greater sensitivity, maximum output and lower extension. That gives an installer a useful choice between wider local coverage and stronger output across larger listening zones.

Outdoor Coverage That Can Be Planned

Choose the model around coverage and output, not simply cabinet size.

BH6Q is rated for 130-degree nominal coverage and up to 109dB maximum SPL. BH8Q narrows that to 100 degrees while increasing maximum SPL to 112dB. Both are listed for a nominal 60m² coverage area.

In practice, outdoor sound design is about placing enough speakers at sensible levels rather than trying to make one loudspeaker cover an entire garden. The two BHQ sizes let the system designer balance spacing, listening level and visual impact.

IP66 protection and a wide operating temperature range suit fixed installations.

Both models are rated IP66 and specified for operation from -25°C to 70°C. Ground-stake and hardscape dimensions are published, which is useful when speaker position, landscaping and service access need to be decided before cabling is buried.
