Description

Bowers & Wilkins DB2D Active Subwoofer

A high-performance active subwoofer using opposed Aerofoil drivers, powerful Class D amplification and app-based setup for music and home theatre systems.

DB2D uses 2 x 250mm (10in) Aerofoil cone drivers in a balanced opposed configuration. The layout reduces cabinet reaction while the digital preamplifier, Dynamic EQ and app-based control provide the tools needed to integrate serious low-frequency output into a room.

The DB Series is best treated as part of the complete system. Placement, crossover settings, room behaviour and the main speakers all affect the final result, so setup matters as much as the headline power figure.

Balanced driver layout

Opposed bass drivers reduce cabinet vibration.

More of the amplifier energy is directed into moving air rather than shaking the enclosure, which helps the subwoofer remain controlled at useful output levels.

App-based integration

Setup and room EQ from the Bowers & Wilkins subwoofer app.

This gives the installer or owner practical control over level, filtering and room interaction without relying on front-panel guesswork.

The Audio Experts Take

DB2D should be chosen by room size, placement freedom and the output demanded from the rest of the system. The DB platform gives plenty of integration control, but the best result comes from treating crossover, phase and room behaviour as part of the setup.
