Description

Arcam PA720 7x100W Class G Power Amplifier

Seven-channel Class G power amplifier rated at 100W per channel into 8 ohms, with balanced XLR and RCA inputs for high-performance surround and immersive home theatre systems.

The Arcam PA720 is a seven-channel power amplifier designed for serious home theatre systems built around a separate AV processor. It uses Arcam's Class G topology to provide efficient low-level operation with substantial power available when the soundtrack demands it.

Unlike the previous catalogue copy, the PA720 is not a stereo amplifier. Its whole purpose is to drive a multi-channel loudspeaker layout from one substantial chassis.

Seven Channels in One Chassis

A clean match for 7-channel bed layers or mixed theatre duties

Arcam rates the PA720 at 100W per channel into 8 ohms with all seven channels driven under its published test condition. That makes it a strong core amplifier for the front, centre and surround bed layer of a separates-based cinema.

Class G Amplification

Efficiency at normal levels with extra voltage available for peaks

Class G operates from a lower supply rail for much of the time and brings in the higher rail as required. Arcam specifies a Class A operating region up to 20W, helping the amplifier remain composed at everyday levels while retaining headroom for dynamic material.

Balanced XLR and RCA Inputs

Flexible connection to processors and preamplifiers

Each channel can be connected by balanced XLR or RCA, making the PA720 easy to integrate into premium processors and professionally installed racks. Ethernet and RS232 support help with control and monitoring.

System Fit and Buying Advice

A power amplifier such as Arcam PA720 7x100W Class should be chosen around the job it is doing in the system. The processor or preamplifier, speaker layout, rack ventilation and cable plan all matter, and multi-channel systems do not necessarily need the same amplifier on every channel.

The Audio Experts Take

The PA720 is a strong fit for a seven-channel cinema where you want one chassis handling the main speaker layer and the processor kept separate. It is especially tidy alongside an Arcam AV processor, although its balanced and RCA inputs make it easy to integrate elsewhere. For larger Atmos systems, we would plan which channels the PA720 should drive and whether a smaller companion amplifier is better for the remaining heights.
