Arcam A25+ Integrated Amplifier with Bluetooth and Auracast

Arcam's top Radia+ conventional integrated amplifier combines 100W-per-channel Class G amplification with HDMI eARC, USB-C audio, MM phono, a high-resolution DAC and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless, LE Audio and Auracast.

The A25+ is built for a modern two-channel system that still wants the amplifier to be the amplifier. It handles analogue sources, vinyl, television audio, computer audio and high-quality Bluetooth, but it does not force a network-streaming platform into the box. That is useful if you already own a streamer or want the freedom to choose one separately.

At 100W per channel into 8 ohms with both channels driven, it also sits above the A15+ and A5+ in the Radia+ range for systems that need more current and headroom.

Fifth-Generation Class G Amplification

More power without turning the chassis into a large, hot conventional amplifier.

Arcam rates the A25+ at 100W per channel into 8 ohms and 165W per channel into 4 ohms at 1kHz. Its fifth-generation Class G output stage uses multiple power-supply rails so the amplifier can operate efficiently at normal levels while bringing the higher rail into play when the music demands more voltage.

For the customer, the useful point is speaker choice. The A25+ has the power reserve for floorstanding speakers and more demanding standmount designs that can expose the limits of a smaller integrated amplifier.

HDMI eARC Makes It a Proper TV Partner

A stereo system can handle television sound without becoming an AV receiver.

HDMI eARC/ARC is one of the A25+'s most practical additions. A compatible television can feed audio directly to the amplifier, allowing the main stereo speakers to become the TV sound system without adding a soundbar or surround receiver.

That is particularly attractive in living rooms where music quality is the priority but television is used every day. It keeps the system visually simple and avoids maintaining separate speaker systems for music and TV.

USB-C, Digital Inputs and ESS DAC

Useful digital flexibility for computers, transports and televisions.

USB-C accepts PCM sample rates up to 384kHz, while the other digital inputs support up to 192kHz. The A25+ also provides conventional analogue inputs and a tuned moving-magnet phono stage.

This is a good example of why the A25+ works well as a hub. A turntable, television, computer, CD transport and streamer can all be accommodated without immediately adding an external DAC or phono stage.

Bluetooth 5.4, aptX Lossless and Auracast

Wireless audio is treated as a serious convenience rather than an afterthought.

The Bluetooth implementation supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Lossless, LE Audio and Auracast. It can work as both a Bluetooth receiver and transmitter, including compatible wireless headphones.

Bluetooth still depends on the source device and codec being used, but this is a much more capable wireless platform than the basic Bluetooth input found on many traditional amplifiers.

Amplification

  • 8-ohm output: 100W per channel, 20Hz-20kHz, both channels driven
  • 4-ohm output: 165W per channel at 1kHz
  • Harmonic distortion: 0.002% at 80% power, 8 ohms, 1kHz

Digital

  • USB-C sample rates: Up to 384kHz
  • Other digital inputs: Up to 192kHz
  • Supported bit depths: 16, 24 and 32 bit

General

  • Maximum power consumption: 500W
  • Standby: <0.5W
  • Included: Remote control, batteries, mains lead and quick start guide

Important Notes

  • The A25+ does not include an integrated network music streamer.
  • Speaker matching still matters despite the strong power figures, particularly with low-impedance loudspeakers.
  • Allow normal ventilation around the amplifier rather than enclosing it tightly in furniture.

The Audio Experts Take

The A25+ is the Radia integrated amplifier we would look at when the system needs genuine power and flexibility but the owner still wants a conventional two-channel amplifier rather than an all-in-one streamer. The 100W-per-channel Class G stage gives it useful headroom for more demanding speakers, while HDMI eARC, USB-C, MM phono and the newer Bluetooth platform make it much easier to live with in a modern room. The question to settle before buying is streaming: if you already have a streamer, or prefer to choose one separately, the A25+ is a very clean centrepiece. If you want network streaming built into the amplifier itself, one of Arcam's streaming integrated models deserves a look.
